## About Rachel Havens, LMHC

Rachel Havens is a licensed mental health counselor providing online therapy to Brightline families located in Washington state. Rachel has several years of experience working with kids and teens ages 8–18, particularly in school-based settings, to support symptoms of  anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, and emotional regulation difficulties. She collaborates closely with parents and school teams to ensure consistent, supportive care across environments.

Rachel’s clinical approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, with a strong focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including exposure-based interventions for anxiety and OCD. She also incorporates parent management training (PMT), motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation and behavior change. Additionally, she integrates acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients respond more effectively to challenging thoughts and emotions and to help them take values-based action.

Rachel has provided diagnostic evaluations, individual, family, and group therapy, and crisis support with an emphasis on building practical skills and reducing family accommodations. She values creating a warm, supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful, lasting change.

### What is a therapist?

Brightline therapists have earned their master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or counseling. They are independently licensed. They are qualified to do therapy and diagnostic evaluations (when they have their diagnostic privilege credential for some license types). Therapists do not prescribe medication, but they are able to directly refer families who need that service to a Brightline psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner.
