“I am passionate about increasing access to high-quality mental health care for underserved communities and helping families build stronger, healthier relationships. What inspires me most about this work is helping children and adolescents recognize that difficult moments do not define who they are or what they are capable of becoming."
About Jalen Parson, LMHC-D
Jalen Parson is a licensed mental health counselor (with diagnostic privilege) at Brightline’s Albany clinic. His approach is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care, rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens when children feel truly understood and parents are active partners in the process.
Jalen works primarily with kids, adolescents, and families navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral challenges, trauma, and emotional dysregulation. He also has experience supporting LGBTQ+ youth and young people working through identity development, family conflict, and relationship stressors.
His therapeutic work draws from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and parent management training, with treatment tailored to each child and family. In session, Jalen focuses on helping kids recognize the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Outside of session, he works closely with parents to build confidence, improve communication, and reinforce progress at home.

"What fuels my passion every day is the opportunity to walk alongside young people and families during critical pivot points in their lives. I am deeply inspired by witnessing clients build resilience, embrace their authentic identities, and gain practical skills that foster lasting healing. Whether guiding a family through a crisis or helping a young person navigate their neurodivergence or identity, I am honored to create affirmative environments where individuals can truly thrive."

"What excites me most about this field is being able to work with children, teens and families. It's amazing to watch clients discover their own strengths, reclaim their confidence, and realize just how resilient they truly are. I’m also deeply passionate about breaking down barriers to mental health care and providing bilingual (English/Spanish) therapeutic services."

What is a therapist?
Brightline therapists have earned their master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or counseling. They are independently licensed. They are qualified to do therapy and diagnostic evaluations (when they have their diagnostic privilege credential for some license types). Therapists do not prescribe medication, but they are able to directly refer families who need that service to a Brightline psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner.
