Child therapy in Albany for anxiety, ADHD, autism, and more
You know your child better than anyone. When something feels off — when the worry seems bigger than the moment, when the meltdowns are coming more often, when school has become a source of dread instead of excitement — you notice. You just may not know what to do next.
That's where Brightline comes in. Our Albany therapists work with kids and teens to understand what's driving their struggles and build practical skills that carry over into real life. And we work closely with parents throughout, because what happens at home matters just as much as what happens in session.
Could my child benefit from therapy?
There's no perfect moment to reach out. Most parents who call us aren't sure whether what they're seeing is serious enough. That uncertainty is normal — and it's exactly what our first conversation is designed to help with.
Some signs it may be worth exploring support:
Worry or anxiety that feels bigger than the situation calls for
Emotional outbursts, meltdowns, or shutdowns that are getting more frequent
A mood or personality shift that's hard to explain
Difficulty focusing, staying organized, or getting through everyday tasks
Struggles with friendships or social situations
Avoiding school, activities, or things they used to enjoy
A persistent feeling that something is off, even if you can't name it
You don't need a diagnosis before reaching out. You just need a feeling that your child could use some support. We'll help you figure out the rest.
Why Albany families choose Brightline
Brightline's Albany clinic is located in the Dunes neighborhood, just off Washington Avenue Extension near the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. It's easy to get to from I-90 and Route 155, with free parking right out front, which means one less thing to worry about on the way to an appointment.
But the reason families keep coming back isn't the location. It's the way we work. We take the time to understand the whole child — not just the presenting concern, but the family context, the school situation, the things that make your child who they are. That foundation is what makes care at Brightline different from a quick referral or a generic treatment plan.
Whether you're coming in with a clear concern or just a gut feeling that something needs attention, our Albany team is here to help you figure out the right next step.

Whether guiding a family through a crisis or helping a young person navigate their neurodivergence or identity, I am honored to create affirmative environments where individuals can truly thrive."
Carlen Hiciano, LMHC-D

"What excites me most about this field is being able to work with children, teens and families. It's amazing to watch clients discover their own strengths, reclaim their confidence, and realize just how resilient they truly are. I’m also deeply passionate about breaking down barriers to mental health care and providing bilingual (English/Spanish) therapeutic services."
Jalen Parson, LMHC-D
"I am passionate about increasing access to high-quality mental health care for underserved communities and helping families build stronger, healthier relationships. What inspires me most about this work is helping children and adolescents recognize that difficult moments do not define who they are or what they are capable of becoming."
